Weekend Friendship

Friday night we hosted house church and it was a delight.
Good food, great conversation and wonderful folks.
The kids had a great time.
Isabella was over the moon to have kids over.

On Saturday, Kora is sitting at the back door and is enamored with the chickens that stood there hoping for treats from the kitchen.

Isabella had a friend over and they took to harvesting any decent looking tomato left.

On Sunday, we were fortunate enough to celebrate our friends birthday Super Hero style.

Their Dad made Isabella's costume from felt, a glue gun, a pillowcase and tee-shirt found at Goodwill and ribbon. Kora's was a $3 used costume from Goodwill as well.

Such wonderful boys.

On our drive home Kora realized she makes a different sound when she honks her nose.
There was a constant nasally honking for a good 10 minutes.

Elderberry Syrup

The girls and I harvested a ton of elderberries from the two bushes in our front yard.
What is in the bowl is only the first harvest.
There are enough berries left on the shrub (needing to ripen) for a full second harvest.

The girls liked eating the berries raw.
This is wonderful but did give way to purple tinged lips, fingers and smears all over the floor.

This is the video I used to guide me though the process.
It was easy and worked like a charm.
We've been enjoying a tablespoon in the morning and the evening which will be a good defense this Fall against colds and flu.

Kora playing with an ice cream spoon.

This little girl is pretty tickled that she is getting to share some ice cream with her Grandpa.

Kora got her hair did.

I love the mutual enjoyment both my girls have of one another.
Kora thought it was the coolest thing to have her sister brush her hair this morning.
Isabella was equally happy to care for her sister that way.

A girl and her chickens.

Linda is the most patient, sweet chicken you could ever meet.
Molly is to the left and Rosetta is to the right.
Note the garden going gangbusters in the background.
It's been a good season.

Our trip to Baltimore.

So these are the faces you make when you pose with sharks.

I didn't get many pictures of the aquarium.
There was far too much kid wrangling for that.
What I did get was some nice pictures of jelly fish.
They are really beautiful.

 These are upside-down jellies.
That's how they live.

 Lunch outside on the waterfront.

We thought these dragon boats were really neat.

Isabella was quite taken with this huge anchor.
(Again, what's up with these expressions?)

Kora thinks it's really funny to be lifted upside down.

These girls were wooed by Isabella's adorableness and charm.
Isabella was wooed by the attention of cool teenaged girls.

These were the glorious clouds that met us on our drive home.
A "Yay God!!" few miles of driving if there ever was one.

Beautiful beginning of Summer 2011!

Day two of swimming.

Look at miss fancy pants crawling up her little slide.

Look at the cute kid in the mirror!

Kora thought it was hot stuff to see herself in the mirror.
Notice in the background you can hear Isabella playing on the piano.
(Sorry for this being on its side. I don't know how to fix it.)

Piano

Very intently and specifically composing music.

Trying to teach Kora how to play.

Sister Fort.

Egg dying and hunting.

If it weren't enough that Keela puts on such great programs for our kids at the Library, she also has fun parties at her home. I always look forward to the fun get-togethers she has.
Let the silly faces begin.

Egg hunt!!

The grand prize of $5.00.

Fish faces.

Twitch your nose like a bunny.

Fun on the greatest climbing tree.
